The 13th annual Pippy Park SummerFest will be held July 25 & 26.
Following on previous years' successful event, the festival will incorporate SummerDance 2009 on the Family Stage, on the lawn, to the south of the Fluvarium, on Nagle’s Place, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm daily.
The Festival is being presented by the Pippy Park Promotions Committee, the Pippy Park Commission and Kittiwake Dance Theatre, and as a new partner for this year – Neighborhood Dance Works, whose Festival of New Dance is taking place at the Arts and Culture Centre from July 21 to 26.
Running for two days, Pippy Park SummerFest 2009 will be an event for the whole family, incorporating activities, music, and dance. As well as the Family Stage, other locations that will be open to the public are the MUN Botanical Garden, the Fluvarium, the Rainbow Riders, the Admiral's Green Golf Course Clubhouse, and the Mini Golf Course.
The Family Stage events are FREE; some of the other sites may charge minimal admission. Please check with the individual sites for information about opening times, admission fees, and parking information.
SummerDance 2009 is a non-curated Festival of Dance, featuring a variety of dance groups and independent dance artists, showcasing the wide range of styles, traditions and forms found in this province, from belly dancing to line dancing to ballet, as performed by amateur and professional dancers alike, and encouraging the work of developing choreographers.
