Linda Rimsay - 2003 YMCA-YWCA Woman of Distinction Award Winner
June 1, 2003 saw Linda Rimsay accept a 2003 YMCA -YWCA Woman of Distinction Award at a ceremony at the Fairmont Hotel, one of three presented in the award's tenth year
The citation read as follows:
Linda Rimsay is the founder and Artistic Director of Kittiwake Dance Theatre. Through her work with Kittiwake, various community based productions and her work in schools through the Arts Smart Programme, Linda has been a mentor to many people, while at the same time, enriching our community through ongoing presentations and the facilitation of numerous workshops.
She has been a tireless volunteer on a variety of arts oriented committees, contributing many hours toward the development of a strong provincial association for Dance. Linda exemplifies the best qualities of teaching: mentor ship, leadership, great humanity and a true sense of commitment to finding and enhancing the individual qualities within each student.
Our community has benefitted immensely from Linda's contribution, and in particular, from her work with young people.
